Hey Tony Joe
I just got “The Shine” and I haven’t been able to stop playing it. You got the swamp all over that music. I am addicted to the 2, 4 and 7th song. Your song, “It ain’t good” where your talking about the panther, rattlesnake skin and rats nest under the tractor, it pure swamp-medicine. It really gets under my skin. What a gift you have.
I’m a 57 year old guitar player who’s family was from The
South, but grew up in California. I need an infusion of that stuff you got coming out of your pores. I remember you very well from the 60′s. I am so glad to see you are still given it all you got. Maybe you can email back with some TJW philosophy. My Mom would just call it, “Medicine”.
Thanks Tony Joe,
CapnMike

Hej Tony Joe,
I saw you in Verviers at the Spirit of 66(15.02.2011)for the first time although I have “known you” for 20 years (which is late, given that I am 53). I don’t know what took me so long. I really love your music/voice/attitude more and more. Thank you very much for meeting me as well and for signing my “The Shine”. I was very impressed and honoured to be in front of you. I drove back to Brussels listening to the CD in my car and was touched again by the depth, the finesse, the perfection, the generosity, that incredible voice and the special guitar sound. I LOVE in particular track 4 “Tell me why” which I listen to over and over again. I like when the music continues beyond the words – it “softens the blow” when a song is over. The last track whic I also like very much is very touching at the end. Please continue for many, many years to produce this “decent groove” as you say. See you in Leuven tomorrow and Brugge on Friday!
Julie (living in Brussels – Belgium)

Hej Tony Joe,
Thank you for being so generous and receptive to the public/individuals at your concerts. It was unique for me to concentrate on “The guitar don’t lie” with the “real guy” playing/singing it just a few meters away. It also reminded me of the other Joe (Dassin) with “dark curly hair”. For decades your music has continued to reach my soul – and through the concerts I attended – for the first time (Verviers, Leuven, Brugge) – I also discovered there is a good man behind it. I am grateful for the efforts/choices you make – they get to us out there.
Bonne route et bonne continuation sur les chemins du monde.
Julie (Brussels – Belgium – 10 March 2011)
